MASK USE DURING PANDEMIC

This document is intended to provide you with information on proper maks use while at Saskatoon Dayhome. The information has been gathered from both the Government of Saskatchewan and Public Health Agencies. These policies and procedures may be updated as our response to the COVID-19 pandemic evolves but will remain in place until further notice.

Mask Requirements

  • All educators, children over the age of 2 and visitors are expected to wear a mask at all times.
  • Masks are to be non-medical and can be reusable or disposable.
  • Staff and children are required to  bring their own masks.
  • Masks should be changed when they become soiled or wet. Staff and children should have more than 1 mask to insure this can occur.
  • Masks should be taken home and washed in hot soapy water at the end of each day.

Putting on and taking off Masks

  • Wash or sanitize hands before putting on a mask
  • Pickup mask by loops, place over your nose and mouth secure behind ears or head.
  • Adjust so that your mouth and nose are fully covered.
  • Wash or sanitize your hands after.
  • When removing do so by loops not touching the front.

While wearing Mask/ Storage

  • Avoid touching it or your face. Wash or sanitize if you do.
  • Change the mask when it becomes soiled or wet.
  • Masks should be only removed when necessary and physical distance can be maintained.
  • Dirty masks will be sent home in a ziplock bag.
  • Extra masks should be sent in a ziplock bag.

Reminders

  • The staff are often fixing masks so for their safety please follow these guidelines.
  • Children under 3 are welcome to wear masks if guidelines are followed but they do NOT need to wear masks.
  • When children are eating there maks will be on a lanyard or in a ziplock bag
  • During quiet time we will space the children 6 feet apart so they can have a mask break
  • We are able to space children so will NOT put masks on children when they sleep.
  • When we are outside we will also be doing mask breaks and staying distanced. If we can’t we will need extra masks as they get wet. So far we have been good with distance though.
